The ULI Philadelphia Leadership Awards are designed to recognize leaders for outstanding, innovative, and sustained contributions to, and in support of, planning and real estate development in the Philadelphia region. These inaugural set of honorees will be recognized for their contributions to helping achieve ULI’s mission of shaping the built environment for transformative impact.
Join Jerry Sweeney and Lindsey Scannapieco at the 2023 ULI Philadelphia Awards for Excellence for a fireside chat exploring how they approach transformative development and the impact they have made in the Philadelphia region and beyond.
Mr. Sweeney has served as President, Chief Executive Officer and Trustee of Brandywine since the Company’s founding in 1994. He has overseen Brandywine’s growth from 200,000 square feet with a total market capitalization of less than $5 million, to nearly 25 million square feet and a total market capitalization of approximately $5.0 billion. Under his leadership, Brandywine has grown into one of the largest, publicly-traded, full-service, integrated real estate companies in the United States, with a core focus on urban, town center, and transit–oriented development in the Philadelphia, PA, Washington, D.C., and Austin, TX markets.
He is passionate about placemaking and creating thoughtful, dynamic spaces that have a positive impact on surrounding communities, and is guided by a deep commitment to responsible, equitable development and business practices. In Philadelphia, he led the launch of a comprehensive Neighborhood Engagement Initiative focused on creating jobs, enhancing diversity in the building trades, creating affordable housing, and community engagement activity.
Lindsey Scannapieco leads Scout, an urban design and development practice that focuses on the activation of underutilized space. Scout’s largest project to date is the redevelopment of Bok into an innovative space for makers, artisans and entrepreneurs. The project has been recently recognized with the Charter Award for Transformational Development by CNU (2021) and longlisted in adaptive reuse by Dezeen (2022).
Lindsey has been recognized with the 40 Under 40 by the Philadelphia Business Journal (2023), Girls Inc Community Impact Award (2022), the Rising Star Award in Real Estate (2018) by the Philadelphia Inquirer. Outside of work, she is the co-President of the Friends of FDR Park and an active board member of Fleisher Arts Memorial and the Knight Foundation Advisory Council.
Lindsey holds a B.S. from the University of Southern California and a MSc from the London School of Economics in City Design and Social Science.
