We are excited to share a preview of some of the exciting Technical Assistance Panels (TAPs) and Workshops for the first half of 2025.
ULI Philadelphia is recruiting 8-11 members to serve on a two-day Technical Assistance Panel (TAP), April 10 – 11, 2025.
Downtown Upper Darby is poised for positive change and will benefit from strong and actionable plans to guide transformation and ensure the downtown area achieves its full potential. The project for this ULI TAP is Destination: Downtown Upper Darby, with a focus on developing entertainment, (including retail as entertainment), restaurants, and public spaces to better serve residents and attract visitors. The area for study is an established business district served by a variety of transportation options.
Upper Darby Township is 7.8 square miles, with a population of 84,837 (ACS 2022 1-yr) making it the 6th largest municipality in Pennsylvania. Upper Darby sits just seven miles from both the Philadelphia International Airport and the 30th Street Amtrak Station. Multi-modal transportation connections are a competitive advantage for Upper Darby, where residents and commuters use the road networks, trains, trolleys and buses for leisure and business.
The downtown area of Upper Darby has always acted as a catalyst for development. The mixed-use, walkable vision that was implemented over one hundred years ago, is now highly desired, which many new developments and town centers try to achieve today, but are often prohibited by most suburban zoning codes (including Upper Darby’s).
