Event Recap: "A Tale of Three Cities"
ULI Philadelphia’s Central Pennsylvania Regional Council held a Mayoral Update, “A Tale of Three Cities“ on Thursday, April 11.
As we approach the end of our fiscal year, ULI Philadelphia is proud to announce our incoming District Council officers, a new staff member and a new Urban Visionary sponsor. We would also like to thank two of our outgoing officers for their time and commitment to ULI Philadelphia: Antonio Fiol-Silva, Founding Principal at SITIO architecture + urbanism and outgoing ULI Philadelphia Governance Chair and Ed Liva, Director of Graduate Tax Program and Professor of Practice at Villanova University School of Law and outgoing ULI Philadelphia Treasurer.
Meet our new leadership!
ULI Philadelphia has selected four new District Council officers for the following positions. These member positions make up District Council leadership and are responsible for setting a strategic direction as well as on-going operations. Each position will serve a 2 year term from July 2019-July 2021.
Alan Razak, Principal at AthenianRazak, has been selected to be the next District Council Chair. This position provides leadership strategic vision, oversight and guidance to the District Council, overseeing all leadership positions and representing the District Council in the community. Alan has more than 40 years of commercial real estate experience, encompassing development and project management, finance, architectural design, and consulting. Read Alan’s full bio.
Alan is a full member of the Urban Land Institute, Chair of National Product Council: Responsible Property Investment, former Chair of Mission Advancement of the Philadelphia District Council, and has written and taught several ULI workshops for real estate practitioners internationally for over 20 years.
Anne Cummins, Managing Partner at Gattuso Development Partners, has been selected to serve as the next Chair of Mission Advancement. The position serves as a liaison between the District Council and ULI global offices by assisting in the creation of the annual program of work and ensuring that ULI best practices, policies, and programs are integrated into the District Council’s activities and outreach. Anne is a full member of the Urban Land Institute and serves as a Co-Chair for the ULI Philadelphia Technology & Competitiveness Local Product Council.
Shari Reams, Senior Vice President- Philadelphia and Northeast REIT Client Manager at PNC Real Estate, has been selected to serve as the next Treasurer. This position is responsible for the monitoring and approval of revenues and expenditures of the District Council, as well as reporting this information to leadership and supporting strategies and decisions to maintain sound financials. Shari is responsible for developing banking relationships with public REITs based in Philadelphia, New York and Boston. Read Shari’s full bio.
Shari is a full member of the Urban Land Institute, member of the National Product Council: Placemaking and former chair of the ULI Philadelphia Capital Markets Committee.
Paul Commito, Senior Vice President of Development at Brandywine Realty Trust and outgoing District Council Chair will become Governance Committee Chair. The Governance Committee consists of past Chairs and Trustees who provide advice to the current Chair and other leadership and is responsible for succession planning. Paul has over 30 years of experience in the real estate development and construction industry. Read Paul’s full bio.
Paul is a full member of the Urban Land Institute and has served as the ULI Philadelphia District Council chair for the past two years.
SITIO is a collaborative practice of architects, urban designers and planners based in Philadelphia. Founded by Antonio Fiol-Silva, FAIA, the firm’s work focuses on context-driven transformational development that is rooted in a commitment to placemaking, sustainability, and design excellence. This focus has been recognized with several honors including six ULI Philadelphia Willard G ‘Bill’ Rouse III Awards for Excellence, and a ULI Global Award for Excellence.
ULI Philadelphia is excited to welcome the newest addition of our team, Kevin Moran. As Senior Manager of ULI Philadelphia, Kevin will be responsible for engaging and managing member committees, managing local product councils, overseeing Advisory Services land use projects, and leading marketing, communication and membership efforts. Kevin joins ULI this May after serving as the Executive Director of Philadelphia’s newest business improvement district in Northern Liberties, where he developed the organizational framework and introduced foundational services for the special assessment area. Kevin has an extensive background in nonprofit management and economic development that includes facilitating over $5M in public space, affordable housing, and commercial corridor investments in the Philadelphia region. Kevin received his master’s degree in Strategic Communication from Villanova University, and also teaches in the Planning and Community Development Program at Temple University.
The opportunity to engage with thought leaders shaping the Philadelphia region’s built environment drew Kevin to ULI and he looks forward to working with members to advance the ULI mission while championing local best practices. Kevin lives in the Fairmount neighborhood with his partner, where they are diligently remodeling their row home room by room. When he’s not painting or removing wallpaper, Kevin enjoys running on the Schuylkill River Trail, spending time with family down the shore, and exploring new cities near and far.
