Gen-Y Seeks the City Life

Even in the Lehigh Valley, large, master-planned suburban communities will be a thing of the past as city growth skyrockets.  That was the perspective put forth by panelists of the Urban Renewal Strategies Forum presented by the ULI Philadelphia-Lehigh Valley Regional Satellite Council in downtown Allentown on November 8th.  “People also want to be in touch with one another,” said John McIlwain, Senior Resident Fellow/J. Ronald Terwilliger Chair for Housing at ULI.  “The old amenity of golf courses is out.  the new amenity is people.”   As Gen-Y, people in their late twenties and early thirties, become the new executive workforce, more and more of these young people want to live and work in cities.  Read more here.
