More frequent and intense coastal hazards—including sea level rise, storms, flooding, erosion, and subsidence—are threatening to damage and destroy coastal real estate and communities, where approximately 40% of the world’s population lives. This year, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) forecasts an “above average” hurricane season.
By bolstering the resilience of coastal assets and areas now, we can help protect coastal real estate, communities, and ecosystems in the face of the significant coastal risks that are expected in the coming years—and strengthen them in the process.
During this online gathering, ULI’s Urban Resilience program will partner with ULI District Councils across the U.S. to inspire and support local and regional collaboration on coastal resilience efforts.
Virtual Meeting Agenda:
ULI's Urban Resilience program will present an overview of the recently released report, Surge: Coastal Resilience and Real Estate, which provides best practices for real estate and land use professionals, as well as public officials, to address coastal hazards.
Several ULI members will present coastal resilience efforts that they have worked on in collaboration with District Councils.
Attendees will join regional, facilitated breakout room discussions to discuss next steps for coastal resilience efforts in their region.
After the regional discussions, participants will report out to the larger group and ULI will offer next step opportunities.
By signing up, ULI members can learn from one another and join regional efforts to advance coastal resilience.
