For over 150 years, Philadelphia was home of oil processing at the largest refinery on the East Coast. In June 2019, the 1,300 acre site closed and since then, the property has been sold to Hilco Redevelopment Partners, a Chicago-based developer known for their work redeveloping large, complex industrial projects.

The reuse of this site represents an opportunity to create a new landscape for the nearby neighborhoods and region. Join our speakers, Jasmine Sessoms, Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Stephanie Eggert, Senior Vice President of Operations, for a candid discussion moderated by Charlene Drake, Associate with Langan Engineering and Environmental Services. To provide an understanding of this site's present and future, our panelists will engage with and dive into the following questions:
    • How might new owners begin to engage with adjacent communities and rebuild trust? What should communities expect from this project?
    • What are the strategies being used to address future impacts of climate change? What sustainable initiatives are being worked into the project to improve the site's footprint?
    • How does the multi-year development plan for this valuable location align with the future of economic development and growth in Philadelphia?
