The Fillmore Tour: From Empty Warehouse to Concert Destination
The Fillmore Philadelphia, inspired by the groundbreaking spirit of its notorious brother on the West Coast, has transformed an underutilized, vacant factory building into an entertainment destination in one of Philadelphia’s most dynamic neighborhoods.
The newest Fillmore location, tucked between the heart of Fishtown and Philadelphia’s waterfront, found its home in a former metal foundry. The Fillmore Philadelphia includes two music venues run by Live Nation and anchors an entertainment complex that consists of a comedy club, distillery, bowling alley and a restaurant.
Join us, as we tour Live Nation’s iconic concert venue, which has established the Fishtown neighborhood as a music destination by breathing new life into the Ajax Metal Company building. We will hear from a variety of speakers who all played an important role in transforming the building, and the area, into one of Philadelphia’s most popular neighborhoods.
EwingCole’s Shannon Noon, Interior Designer, and Craig Schmitt, Principal Architect, will share how they incorporated the historical feel of Philadelphia and the eccentricities of a concert hall into the interior of an industrial warehouse, to create a venue that has entertained thousands of concert goers over the last three years. Janice Woodcock, Architect for the complex, Principal owner of Woodcock Design and former Director of the Philadelphia City Planning Commission, and Matt Riccotti, the Assistant General Manager of Live Nation, will discuss why this building was significant in activating an underutilized industrial area and how the Fillmore has created an entertainment hotbed in the Fishtown neighborhood.
After the tour, join your colleagues for a Happy Hour at Barcade, the arcade bar on Frankford Avenue known for their classic video games and American craft beer.
