Local students Abby Lowe and J. Rebecca Sanchez Recognized for Their Future Leadership in Sustainable Land Use
ULI Philadelphia has announced that Abby Lowe and J. Rebecca Sanchez have been named the 2017 recipients of the ULI Future Leaders Scholarship. Created by ULI Philadelphia’s Young Leaders Group, the scholarship is awarded annually to students who demonstrate excellence in a ULI-related field of academic study. In addition to a monetary award, the scholarship winners each receive 2 years of ULI membership, complimentary registrations to ULI Philadelphia programs, and membership in the Young Leaders Council.
Originally from Delaware County, Abby Lowe is a recent graduate of Temple University’s honor program with a degree in Community Development. She is continuing her studies at Temple in an accelerated master’s degree program in City + Regional Planning. Lowe most recently interned at the Philadelphia City Planning Commission in the Planning and Policy Analysis division, with a focus on transportation planning. She will be working for a transit consulting firm this summer.
J. Rebeca Sanchez joined JKRP architects after graduating from the University of Virginia in 2015. Originally from Mexico City, she enjoys the urban lifestyle and variety of neighborhoods Philadelphia offers. Sanchez is excited to remain in the city as she begins her Master’s degree in Architecture this Fall at the University of Pennsylvania. She is especially interested in how design can positively influence our community. Her goal is to become a licensed architect and hopes to one day run her own firm.
The scholarship is funded by ULI Philadelphia and, with these recipients, has awarded $29,000 since its inception in 2012.
