NJBIZ Names ULI Member Leslie A. Anderson to Its Prestigious Best 50 Women in Business List
June 5, 2017
NJBIZ, New Jersey’s only statewide business publication, honored Leslie A. Anderson as one of its 2017 Best 50 Women in Business. Leslie, a ULI member, was recognized for her trailblazing achievements as the Executive Director of the New Jersey Redevelopment Authority (NJRA). NJRA is a multi-million dollar independent financing authority created by the state of New Jersey in 1996 to transform urban communities through direct investment and technical support.
Due to the difficulties that underserved areas face in attracting needed investment, NJRA is often the first entity to invest in vital redevelopment projects in these communities. By investing first, the authority acts as a catalyst for private capital. Under Leslie’s stewardship, NJRA has used its financial resources to leverage over $1.3 billion in new investments, helping to redevelop some of New Jersey’s most economically challenged neighborhoods. Additionally, it has committed $418 million in direct funding in 44 eligible communities. This has led to the creation of 15,000 new housing units and 10 million square feet of commercial and retail space.
In addition to financing important redevelopment projects, NJRA offers workshops on the intricacies of the redevelopment process through its Redevelopment Training Institute (RTI). RTI is a nationally recognized and regionally accredited training program that has trained over 2,000 developers, elected officials, attorneys, and non-profits since its inception.
Leslie received her award at the NJBIZ Best 50 Women in Business Awards Reception and Ceremony on March 20, 2017.
